of e-commerce in the telecommunications industry.
EP’s principals
set out in 1996 to create an efficient system
for delivering prepaid phone card PINs instantly
by e-mail to retail consumers. Apart from the
natural technological difficulties of developing
a robust order management and fulfillment system,
prepaid (“stored value”) products
presented additional challenges.
During several
years of refinement, the human and technological
infrastructure was created to solve these problems.
The result: massive order volume delivered instantly
by web and e-mail with trivial fraud loss and
efficient staffing.
